Privacy Policy — Find My Car

Who we are

Find My Car is offered by the developer shown on the app store where you downloaded the app. For privacy questions or requests, use the contact details on that listing.

The short version

What stays on your phone

Your saved parking spots (location, address, notes, optional photos, and parking-meter timer info) are stored on the device in a protected way. Photos you add are kept in the app's private storage. Settings you choose (such as miles vs kilometers, dark mode, how long to keep old spots, and your Premium status) are also kept on the device.

Old past parking entries can be removed automatically after the time period you pick in Settings. Your current active parking spot is not removed that way.

Parking-meter reminders are scheduled on your phone; they are not sent from a server.

Location

With your permission, the app uses your device's location to show you on the map, save where you parked, and navigate you back to your car. You can grant precise or approximate location; precise works best in large lots.

Your location is not shared with third parties. Two service providers process coordinates solely to make the app's features work:

Location is never sent to ad networks, and we do not build any location history outside the parking spots you save on your device.

Advertising (free version)

The free version shows banner and occasional full-screen ads through Google AdMob. Like most ad networks, AdMob automatically collects and shares with Google certain data for advertising, analytics, and fraud prevention:

You can reset or delete your advertising ID at any time in Android Settings → Privacy → Ads. See Google's privacy policy for how Google handles this data.

Premium subscribers see no ads.

Premium subscription and purchases

Premium is a monthly or yearly subscription (with a free trial for new subscribers) handled entirely by Google Play Billing. Google processes the payment; we never see your name, card number, or billing address. The app only learns whether an active subscription exists so it can unlock Premium features. You can manage or cancel the subscription anytime in the Play Store.

Crash reports and diagnostics

If the app crashes or misbehaves, Firebase Crashlytics (a Google service) sends us a crash report with technical details such as the stack trace, device model, OS version, and app version. These reports help us find and fix bugs; they do not include your parking spots, photos, or notes. The app also uses Firebase services to fetch small configuration updates and to deliver notifications.

Services summary

Service What for What it receives
Mapbox Maps and addresses Map area viewed and coordinates to look up (telemetry off)
Google AdMob Ads (free version) IP address, advertising ID, app/ad interactions, diagnostics
Google Play Billing Premium subscription Purchase handled by Google; app sees subscription status only
Firebase (Google) Crash reports, app config, notifications Crash logs, technical diagnostics, an app-installation identifier

Each provider has its own privacy policy: Google, Mapbox.

Permissions

The app may ask for access to your location (maps and saving spots), camera (photos), and notifications (meter reminders), plus internet access. You can change these anytime in your phone's Settings. Some features won't work without them.

Children

This app is not aimed at children. Parents should decide whether it is appropriate.

If you live outside your home country

Your use of Google and Mapbox services may involve processing data in the United States or other countries where those companies operate.

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time and will change the date at the top when we do.
